Has it been that long?
Six months ago this day, I put my feet on foreign soil after a very long day of traveling. When I passed through immigration, the officer checking my papers mentioned how he too had studied graphic design. 'Maybe you'll get back to it some day', I remarked. And then it randomly struck me; I'm pretty far from home right now.
These six months have been amazingly bitter-sweet. I've lived the unknown, while holding on to the familiar. This time has shown me that the possibilities are endless; you just need to take those first few steps. I may not have climbed mountains, but I have walked a long way, and it makes me proud. There are still things I want to do, and I am working towards them. But I know they're possible. And that's fine for now.
I celebrated my city-versary by having some pizza and wine with my favorite person here, my sister, who has made me more comfortable than I could ever think of being in a new city. I can't tell what the future holds for me, but if the past is any indication, it's definitely going to be interesting.

Only six months? Wow! I guess it's because I started reading just as you were about to leave for New York that I feel like you've always been there. Sure in the back of my mind (and when I'm stalking your archives) I know that there was Delhi first. Congratulations on your city-versary. Chunks of this blog will always serve as a testament to following one's dreams no matter what happens or wherever you go from here.
ReplyDeleteThank you! You're too sweet. :)
