When the Sun met Venus

I assume everyone gets excited about space stuff, so I also assume that everyone was enamored by Venus passing by the Sun on 6th June 2012. According to NASA, the transit of Venus across the face of the Sun is one of the rarest predictable solar events and the next time that will happen is 2117. I doubt I'll be around for that, unless of course they perfect the cryogenic freezing of the human body, in which case I'm keeping a reminder.

I couldn't spot the planet when it happened, but the kind folks at NASA put up amazing pictures of it. Click here for pictures of their legendary encounter.
